  6.          This file is for new, and veteran LORA BBS Sysops, It is intended to
  7. explain how to successfully run door programs in Lora.
  8.          A little about myself, My name is Robert Butler, SysOp of Abacus
  9. PC Online BBS. I have been running LORA BBS since v2.35 and have found that
  10. LORA BBS is one of the most stable and reliable BBS software available.
  11. At first glance, LORA BBS may look a little plain and doesn't seem to be
  12. compatable with much of anything, but as you will soon see,
  13. It is compatable with almost any software, these include most popular games
  14. like BRE, LORD, USURPER, FALCONS EYE, TRADEWARS etc.. also you can run a
  15. variety of doors intended to enhance the look of Lora, some of these doors
  16. include, IceEdit, IceNote, Icechat, Verify!38 (CBV), Voting Booth, and more.
  17. In this Doc I will explain how to run some of these doors. It is my hope
  18. that this will help some of you become successful LORA Sysop.

  20.  Q: What do i need to run doors in lora?
  21.  
  22.  A: With the current improvements in LORA BBS v2.99+ you no longer need to use
  23. a dropfile conversion utility, LORA now produces the Dorinfox.def and Door.sys
  24. by using a *DJ and *DD to produce the Door.sys. This will be further explained
  25. below.

  27.  Q:How do I run Doors in Lora?
  28.  
  29.  A:Well this one is a bit tougher, 1st and foremost, READ THE DOC'S! that came
  30. with the Software you are going to run. Below I will demonstrate how to run a
  31. Game door using the menu option *DJ to produce a Dorinfox.def dropfile and
  32. run the door. In your Lsetup program, and under the menu settings place this;
  33. (modify the data to fit your configuration)
  34.    THESE EXAMPLES ARE CUTS FROM OLD LSETUP! BUT THE SAME COMMANDS ARE
  35.                     USED IN THE LORA v2.99 and up!

  55. This will cause lora to call bre.bat an explaination of the * commands can
  56. be found in the LORA docs and at the end of this file.

  66. Now here is how you would call the same door using the Door.sys dropfile
  67. instead of the dorinfox.def (may need to do this in IP BRE games, the dorinfo
  68. dropfile will call you "SYSOP" as your name unless you play locally)

  100. That's it! (there is some configuring you must do to set up some doors,
  101. please refer to the door's documentation)

  104.  Q:Why does the computer lock up or there is no ansi displayed when running an
  105. external door?
  106.  
  107.  A:This one has to do with a couple of things, 1st you must define your
  108. comports in your Config.Sys (OS/2 Users of SIO only) ensure your config.sys
  109. lines read in the same order as below. (the settings may be different).
  110.  
  111. DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VMOUSE.SYS
  112. DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\POINTDD.SYS
  113. DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\MOUSE.SYS SERIAL=COM1
  114. DEVICE=C:\SIO\SIO.SYS (2:57600,2F8,3,-) (3:57600,3E8,2,-)
  115. DEVICE=C:\SIO\VSIO.SYS
  116. DEVICE=C:\SIO\VX00.SYS
  117. REM DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\COM.SYS
  118. REM DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VCOM.SYS

  120. It is important that the Mouse.sys be placed before the Sio devices.
  121. Also note in the Sio.sys settings that there is a "-" placed at the end of the
  122. com port definitions.. This is VERY Important!

  124. Also you must add this line to your config.sys;

  126. DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\ANSI.SYS
  127. (DOS Users add DEVICE=C:\DOS\ANSI.SYS)

  130.         There is one other thing that OS/2 users need to check..
  131. On your PM, go to DOS settings for your DOS sessions and ensure you have

  134. this installed under "DOS_DEVICE" value;
  135. C:\SIO\VX00.SYS (Installs Vx00 to run DOS Doors)
  136. C:\OS2\MDOS\ANSI.SYS
  137.  
  138. The loading of VX00.SYS is required if you are running DOS Doors!

  141. Included in this archive I have placed some files that should help,
  142. they are actual Bat and Cmd files (to include in some cases the config files)
  143. that I use to run LORD, Usurper, and some others.. I hope they help out!
